Monday Night Football is Back in Houston!!!

The NFL schedule is out and it seems to be more favorable than the whirlwind the Texans played last year.  Not only does it look like the teams they will face are not as good as last year, but they also have 3 of the first 4 at home!  Now we wait for the Draft and we will be that much closer to the 2009 season!!!

Should Texans go after Cutler?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Quarterback Jay Cutler #6 of the Denver Broncos delivers a pass against the Dallas Cowboys during preseason NFL action at Invesco Field at Mile High on August 16, 2008 in Denver, Colorado.

Cutler seems destined to be in a new uniform next season after feeling that his head coach does not want him.  When he realized that the Broncos tried to trade for Matt Cassell, the former Vanderbilt QB is requesting a trade.  Question is where will he end up?  Several teams could use a QB(Detroit, St. Louis, NY Jets, Chicago, Tampa Bay…to name a few) but an interesting option might be the Texans.  Anyone will tell you Cutler has all the physical tools to be a great NFL quarterback and might already be in the top 10 at his position, if not higher.  Matt Schaub has been good when healthy, but has not proven he can play a full season.  On the other hand Cutler has not missed a game since becoming the Broncos starter, is two years younger than Schaub, and has a ProBowl on his resume.

Chances are the Texans don’t even make a call to check on the availability of Jay Cutler because they seem poised to make a run at their first winning record and possible playoff birth this season with a returning cast that was 8-8 last season, and a couple breaks from a much better outcome.  Think what might have happened if it was Cutler with the same Texans team for 16 games and not the combination of Schaub/Sage.  They would probably have at least 1 more win and a 9-7 season saving the fans of the ridiculous “Rosencopter” memory and horrible collapse to the Colts.

Question is, if the Broncos asked for Schaub and Texans 2nd round pick for Cutler would you do it?  I would!

And of course…The Cowboys Suck!!!!!

We all knew it was only a matter of time until a team signed the problem child Owens.  Maybe this is good news for the Texans in that T.O. might team up with Marshawn Lynch in tearing apart any chances the Bills have of being a suprise playoff team this year.  You can’t argue their talent, but both have had several off the field and locker room incidents that have caused tension on their respective teams.  I for one can’t wait to make the trip up to Buffalo this year and see if the Texans can beat up on crybaby T.O.  and the Bills on their way to their first playoff game!

And dont forget…COWBOYS SUCK!!!!!

MISSING NFL PLAYERS IN GULF OF MEXICO

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

We felt like it was only appropriate to send out a prayer message to the families of the three men still lost at sea after going fishing this past weekend. (Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent NFL defensive lineman Corey Smith and former South Florida player William Bleakley) Marquis Cooper owned the boat that capsized off the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.  I can only believe that they felt somewhat safe being onboard, and were attempting to respect the waters around them. I’m sure we all have watched, “The deadliest Catch” and have seen how quickly the conditions of the ocean can change. In my mind I see these guys as fighters, so of all people to be lost at sea I would imagine these guys are putting up a fight for survival. I know their families have not given up on them and we wish them all the strength in the world to come through all this alive.

Update: As of last night the U.S. Coast Guard has suspended the search for these gentlemen. We know this isn’t easy on the families and has to be hard to bring closure to their hopes for them to be found safely.

Latest update: The families have decided to continue in the search for these three gentlemen. Free-agent defensive tackle Tank Johnson, a childhood friend and college teammate of Cooper at Washington, was taking a lead role in the renewed search.  We all hope and pray to a happy ending to a very sad situation.
